2022 Swim Adventures
The end of our 2021 season involved a base move into the 'shadow' of the Cairngorms National park, Scotland. Our 2022 program includes swims in Cornwall the Lake District and Scotland.
Something for everyone - so get a date in the diary, make that commitment stay motivated and get yourself in the wet stuff !
Our swims are a perfect opportunity to take on a wet challenge without the crowds! Fully guided and supported with a maximum 12 participants. You will receive appropriate safety/coaching advice at the briefing and throughout. Please note these are not races and you will not be given a time. You will be given the opportunity to enjoy the location and complete the swim(s) without the pressure of a mass start event. Some swims include refreshments. Many necessitate walking to start points and/or exits on unmade terrain, coastal or mountain paths. Please read the descriptions of each swim/activity before you book and ask if you are in any doubts about your ability.
Book with confidence knowing that if we cancel a swim/activity (including any fall back day and or alternative location), you get all of your money back. Multiple swim itineraries will be refunded on a pro rata basis unless the whole event is cancelled.

Scotland 2022 - Intro to open water
Ready steady GO!
To start our Scotland journey we kick off with two intro sessions. If you've always fancied a plunge in the sea for swimming or some cold water immersion 'therapy' we have just the thing you need. Small numbers, fun, friendly - qualified and experienced coaches and lifeguards, with a focus on safety and awareness to set you up for a Wet Stuff life of adventures.
Pick the pool to open water if you can swim and are new to open water swimming or just need some advice and guidance. The cold water immersion session is more about the experience of just being in for the physiological and psychological effects with less emphasis on swimming.
Get in touch if you need any help in deciding if or what is right for you.
Adventure swims for those with more experience will be coming soon.
This ‘Open Water Swim’ Journey started over 25 years ago swimming in lakes, rivers, mountain pools and the sea including some exhilarating self guided coasteering trips. You learn about the sea quickly when you jump into frothing swell between rocky outcrops on a cold winters day!
Head coach Binney has been swimming for as long as she can remember, in various pools throughout Europe and the USA or in the sea on family holidays to Cornwall, competing to a National Level and represented the British Police Swim Team. Having a brother who represented GB at an Olympic and 2 Commonwealth Games gives a valuable insight into the dedication it takes to become an elite swimmer.
After many years in the Third Sector, as a CEO in Safety/Risk Education, a career change allowed Binney to revisit her passion for swimming. The In The Wet Stuff concept was developed after watching Alistair Brownlee win Gold in the Triathlon and Keri-Anne Payne narrowly missing out on a Bronze during the 2012 Olympics. Together with Rick they introduced Open Water Swim Coaching into various lakes/quarries in the Midlands. Having qualified as Beach Lifeguards during a cold week in April of 2013, Rick took on the role of Safety Advisor for all open water sessions.
Within the year Binney had also taken on the role of Head Coach (after working under Mark Perry, Ex-Olympic GB Open Water Coach), coaching the Performance Squad of a Midlands Club, whilst Rick became the club’s first dedicated volunteer Masters Coach. A move to Cornwall in 2016 brought In The Wet Stuff to The Roseland on the South Coast. At the end of the 2021 season a move to North Aberdeenshire opened up more swim and adventure possibilities.
Combined experience of coaching swimmers and triathletes young and old from complete newbies to British Age Groupers. They believe that everyone can be taught to swim in the right environment and enjoy the pleasures of swimming whether in a pool, open water wetsuit swimming or skins swimming in the sea, for pleasure, bucket list or competitively.
Safety is always their number one priority with suitable safety craft/equipment available at all sessions.
Experience of competing in all sorts of events including pool, lake and sea swim triathlons, with Rick taking on the longer distances of Half (70.3) and Full (140.6) Triathlons.
